A Holiday Without Photographs.

"Hold up...what do you mean you didn't take any photographs on holiday?"
This was the general reaction from most of my friends when I got back from my winter holiday to India. To be honest, I was quite shocked too.
At first this was incidental but even when I realised, I felt no sudden need to start documenting my holiday. One of the main reasons being that I was simply enjoying being with family. As soon as I arrived in India, I was surrounded by family and friends, and it was so nice to just take a break from trying to capture perfect moments. I did post on my Instagram story now and then, but even checking my phone was a chore because I'd end up checking emails.
I love looking back at old photographs and briefly reliving those moments and feeling certain emotions again, but the sad truth is, sometimes you just don't want to feel anything. I just wanted to be content with the world around me and take it in. And just like children, hopefully, I'll naturally remember the good bits.
Yes, a part of me does regret that I didn't get my phone out to take photos at certain times, but I can tell you that, without a phone screen, the sunset was a hundred percent more beautiful. I had the best company, so I will remember it regardless.
Sometimes all you need is space to put things into perspective. In a world where social media, live content and news is constantly present, it was healthy for me to physically leave and turn my phone off.
P.S would not recommend this if you are going to India for the first time (or the second), it is beautiful, and you might want to take your camera.
